Houghton Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning has teamed up with Attleboro High School
Houghton Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning is proud to be part of the rehabilitation and training for the AHS athletes. Todd Houghton (owner of Houghton Physical Therapy) and Mark Houle (Athletic Director for AHS) have hired Lexie Watkins, ATC to be the new athletic trainer for all sports at the Attleboro High School. Todd Houghton has been involved with the community since the day he started his practice and is very excited to be part of this program.
The kids that are into sports these days are usually into them full force. They have practices every day, tournaments on the weekends, week long clinics and private training sessions with top athletes. It is important for the young athletes to be educated on training correctly and build strength and speed without getting injured. Unfortunately, when our children get hurt, may it be a sprain or fracture it is devastating to the young go getter and saddening for the proud parents.
That is when all the questions start coming to mind. When can I get back to playing? Is this injury going to affect the child’s performance? What is the best plan of care I can get to be in top condition again? Well the answer is… We train our kids like professional athletes so we should rehabilitate them like one.
Having an Athletic Trainer on staff at Attleboro High School is an excellent benefit for all the young athletes. Lexie will be providing the students with sports medicine and rehabilitation services. An Athletic Trainer is a licensed health care professional who can help prevent, diagnose, treat and rehab their injuries by coordinating the care with physicians and health professionals. In conjunction the athletic trainer is affiliated with the Houghton Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning facilities. This allows you to have the options a professional athlete has at your service. We listen to the sports commentators all the time talking about the therapy and the training our favorite pro-athletes are going through to get back in the game (Tom Brady) and it is truly important for the health and well being of our children that we are helping and not hurting their bodies.
Houghton Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning has been treating thousands of patients over the years and we are considered a lead provider in musculoskeletal health care, by serving, rehabilitating and caring for the total patient and athlete. It is important to consult with your ATC, Physical Therapist or Physician from the onset of the injury, start a rehab program and progress into training with proper techniques, using sport specific strengthening exercises that will reduce the risk of re-injury.
